AT their meeting, members of Bridgerule Arts and Crafts Group (known as 'Knit and Bitch') were asked to decorate an Easter bonnet.

There were some amazingly varied and clever results kindly judged by Angela Brock.

One woman had cleverly made her own bonnet from fabric and decorated it, there was an abundance of bunny rabbits, chicks, flowers and even fresh flowers plus dried and varnished hot-cross buns.

The winning hat made by Sheila Cholwill had a small cardboard chicken hut on the top surrounded by lots of tiny yellow chicks.

The group meets in the village hall every two weeks — the next one is Wednesday, April 15, from 2pm to 4pm. This will be an afternoon of learning new drawing skills with Janet Grant from Pyworthy Rural Arts Group kindly going along to give a lesson.

Lessons have included flower arranging, making jewellery, macrame and sometime in the future they are hoping to find someone willing to teach cake-icing.

As a group members are always looking ahead and trying to help others. Several members are involved in knitting squares, which will be made into knee-blankets for residents at Southlands Residential Home in Bridgerule, while others are dressing boy and girl teddy bears to be given away.
