DURING the year ending March 31, 2016 Holsworthy Food Bank, which is run by Holsworthy and District Christians Together, received 1340kg of food and allocated 1381.3kg, serving 120 adults and 33 children, writes Christine Williams.

The recently completed annual stocktaking showed there was a surplus from last year and the food in stock totalled 294.6kg. Some surplus food was donated to Bude’s food bank of which Holsworthy is a satellite. Bude itself has recorded a 50% increase in demand since last year.

Sylvia Goldspink from Holsworthy Food Bank extended thanks to all those who have contributed so generously over the past year. Regular donations of food are much appreciated, but donors are asked to make sure that food is in date. Monetary donations are also appreciated to defray the ongoing expenses for the hire of premises at the Memorial Hall.

Visitors are invited to pop in for a cup of tea or coffee on Wednesday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm and see how it all works.
