A FLORIST from Launceston has achieved Best in Show in the flower competition at Launceston Agricultural Show on Thursday, July 28.
Alison Penno, who owns Flower Scene in Launceston, achieved Best in Show in the flower competition during the recent Launceston Show, with her vibrant ‘Clashing Reds’ floral display.
Speaking of her achievement at the flower competition, organised by the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS), Alison said: “I was very surprised to have won Best in Show, it was all a little bit last minute. It takes a lot of preparation, because you have to depict the title given using foliage and flowers.”
Alison, who has exhibited her beautiful floral arrangements at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show twice, has been involved in the flower competitions at Launceston Show since she was young. She added: “I’ve been doing this since I was quite young. My mum was a flower arranger and I’m now a florist, so I’ve been playing with flowers since I was quite little.”
