A DRIVING instructor from Launceston has donated a collection of sleeping bags to St Petroc’s in Bodmin.
Colin Mullis, a driving instructor based in and around Launceston, made an appeal and received a great response, with people either donating a bag they no longer needed, or sponsoring a new bag. Sponsors included Kay Robinson, Laura Smith of Gelous Nails, and Launceston resident Heather Gregory, who donated two large bags of warm clothing.
Heather said: “We all have a jumper we hang on to but never wear, so why not donate it to someone who needs it?”
Louise, of St Petroc’s, explained to Colin how the donated items would be distributed. She told him that the numbers of people in need vary throughout the year, but Christmas time is always difficult for people, as some feel they do not deserve to be helped and suffer abuse from people. For many, it is circumstances out of their control that mean they are homeless.
Colin said: “How hard is it to donate even one item to help someone in need? In current times, any one of us could have a family member of friend who find themselves in need.
“Many thanks to all who helped. Merry Christmas.”
