STUDENTS at Launceston College achieved the best set of GCSE results in its history with 73 per cent of the students in Year 11 achieving at least five GCSEs at grade C or better, with eight students gaining 14 or more GCSE at grade C or above.
Students were celebrating at the College on Thursday morning as they received the results and a record number of students will now be returning to the College Sixth Form.
College Principal Jack Jackson, commented: "These results are testimony to the hard work and talents of the students and the fantastic dedication of the teaching and support staff at the college.
"It is great to see the students ready to move on to the next stage of their life."
Head of Year Margaret Walters said: "I am very proud of the dedication shown by so many of our students and delighted they received the result's they deserved."
There were many great individual stories including: Georgie Norgate, Jen Cruise, Daniell Sproston and Nathan Spargo who gained over 10 A* and A grades each, and Stephanie Cornelius who gained the equivalent of 18 GCSE grades at C or above. Two students also gained an AS level in IT, one year earlier than normal.
The College re-opens to students on Tuesday, September 6, following sixth form induction for students.
