THE Young Farmers’ Club competition saw a great number of entrants with all displaying different talents.
There were many different classes for the club members from Bradworthy, Clawton and Stratton to enter including classes such as the ‘individual pasty’ and ‘animal made from vegetable of fruit’.
At the end of the day after the judges, Andrew Martyn, Julie Isaac and Sharon, had made their decision and all the points were added up an overall winner of the Challenge Cup was announced.
The overall winner of the cup was Steph Colwill with 13 points. Coming in second was Lucy Barnes with 9 points and in third was Charlotte Gerry with 8 points.
Prizes were also given out, sponsored by Robert Cole Agri Engineering, to those young farmers who came in first, second and third place in their respective classes.
Class 1: A child’s birthday cake – set recipe; 1st Lucy Barnes, 2nd Louise Birch, 3rd Max Snook-Revis.
Class 2: Pineapple upside down cake – set recipe; 1st Steph Colwill, 2nd Jenny Tratt, 3rd Amber Sobey.
Class 3: Individual pasty; 1st Charlotte Gerry, 2nd Jenny Tratt.
Class 4: A length of fabric bunting not to exceed 2m; 1st Amber Sobey.
Class 5: Wall art – using canvas as a base; 1st Lucy Barnes.
Class 6: Animal made from vegetable or fruit; 1st Jorja Snook-Bevis, 2nd Steph Colwill, 3rd Max Snook-Bevis.
Class 7: An arrangement of floating flower heads; 1st Steph Colwill, 2nd Charlotte Gerry, 3rd Jenny Tratt.
Class 8: A floral exhibit in a basket; 1st Lucy Heard, 2nd Richard Medland.
Class 9: An arrangement of foliage in a tea cup and saucer; 1st Lucy Heard, 2nd Richard Medland, 3rd Jenny Tratt.
Class 10: An item made from driftwood; 1st Max Snook-Bevis.
Class 11: A model made from Lego; 1st George Grigg, 2nd Louise Birch, 3rd Amber Sobey.
Class 12a: Photograph entitled ‘Best Farming Selfie’; 1st Charlotte Gerry, 2nd Steph Colwill, 3rd Louise Birch.
Class 12b: Photograph entitled ‘Colours of the countryside’; 1st Steph Colwill, 2nd Lucy Barnes, 3rd Amber Sobey.
An additional Novelty Class was held for the ‘Longest dock leaf’. In first place was a magnificent entry from James Medland, coming in second was Richard Medland’s leaf and third went to Lucy Barnes.
