LAUNCESTON-BASED Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF) has announced a new fund available to raise the level and quality of youth social action in Cornwall. This can include activities such as campaigning, fundraising and volunteering, enabling young people to make a positive difference to their communities.

CCF grants manager, Kirsty Philpott, said: “CCF is delighted to announce the availability of the Youth Action funding. We are keen to receive applications for £1,000-£5,000 from projects that engage young people who are new to volunteering and who can develop additional skills, from cooking, communications to English and maths.”

The funding is part of the national ‘#iwill Fund’ that is a £40-million joint commitment by the UK Government and Big Lottery Fund, boosted by £9.6-million of matched funding from Comic Relief, Pears Foundation and community foundations across the UK, including CCF.

Kirsty added: “The closing dates for applications is on Monday, August 7 for a panel meeting on Monday, September 4. We are inviting organisations with suitable ideas to contact us to discuss their proposals. The funding is targeted to young people aged between the age of ten and 20, and up to 25 for disabled young people.”
