On April 28, 67 Launceston Seniors played in teams of 3 in what was a complicated format. On the first 9 holes the best 2 nett scores ( 9 if N/R or over 10) were recorded giving a par of 72 strokes. On the back 9 the best 2 stableford points were recorded giving a par of 36 points. The points were then subtracted from the front 9 scores giving a competition par of 36.

Good weather and the course in fine condition led to some impressive results with the winning teams 13, 13, 11 and 10 better than par. 14 2's were achieved with John Haywood and John Russell getting 2 each. It was left to Brian Ben-David to check the complex cards and determine the winners.

Results: 1st, Peter Holland, Mike Gee, Dave Endacott 23; 2nd, Morley Brown, Peter Williams, Brian Johns 23; 3rd, Neville Helme, Earl Terris, Paddy Collier 25; 4th, Derek Ratcliffe, Brian Ben-David, Glen Timmins 26.

In the afternoon the Seniors team entertained Tavistock. Captain Robin cheekily played with a ball he had found recently at Tavistock with their crest on it. It might not have put off his opponents but did lead to his under par round and victory, which was mentioned by the Tavistock Captain in his after dinner speech.

Graham Nevitte arrived totally equipped for the day but on completion of his round found his change of clothing locked in the car along with his car keys. After borrowing a mobile and trying a garage for a duplicate set he eventually contacted his wife who drove to the club with a spare only minutes before the meal was served. We have not heard what this has cost him. The meal of either Chicken Chasseur or Beef Lasagne was enjoyed by all but especially by Robin and several others who took up the offer of second helpings. The day was a real success with the home team winning by 6 to 2.

Results: Robin Johnson (Cpt) & Derek Davey won 2 up; Peter Jones (Sec) & Graham Nevitte won 3&1; Peter Wall & Gerald Cramp (V/Cpt) won 3&2; Tim Johnson & Paul Roach won 6&5; Pat Johnston & Mike Perkins halved; Ken Moody & Tony Bowden halved; Brian Goble & Don Slee won 4&3; Rodney Duke & Peter Howard lost 7&6.
