DEVON County Council has welcomed the Government announcement of extra funding which will be made available to help repair roads damaged by the winter weather.
In response to the impact of one of the worst winters on record, the Department for Transport has increased the Severe Weather Recovery Scheme by £36.5-million, to £80-million, in order to support the worst hit areas. Devon County Council has welcomed the announcement of extra funding.
Cllr Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council cabinet member for highway management and flood prevention, said: "We're pleased that the Government has listened to our pleas for assistance, and this is the sort of additional support we've been calling for."
