ON?TUESDAY, August 24, 217 students converged on the Budehaven Library to collect their GCSE results. Many of them will still be celebrating!

Seventeen students passed all their GCSE exams with A*, A and B grades, a fantastic achievement. For five of these students, all their exam grades were A* and A, so particular congratulations go to Rhys Dore, Louise Kerr, Shannon Miller, Alexander Ward and Patrick Zhang.

Every student in the year group gained at least one GCSE qualification, and 98 per cent of the students gained 5 GCSE passes, the highest percentage ever achieved by Budehaven. A total of 68 per cent of students achieved 5 GCSEs with the higher grades A* to C, and 58 per cent of the year group gained 5A* to C grades including English and Maths, the key measure now used by the government; again, both figures are the highest the school has recorded.

Headteacher, David Barton was understandably delighted with the students' success.

He said: "These results are excellent and I am thrilled that our students have done so well. I am particularly pleased with the results of those students who have not always found school easy and have sometimes found school work challenging. The fact that 98 per cent of the whole year group have gained 5 or more GCSEs at grades A* to G is very pleasing indeed not only for the students but for their families as well."
