LOYAL supporters turned out in force for St Minver Cancer Research UK’s fundraising committee’s annual Christmas Market held early in November.

Held at the Rock Sailing and Water Ski Club, it is always a very cosy venue for this event.

A small entry fee included coffee and mince pie and a chance to browse all the wonderful tables displaying handcrafted items made by committee members and some of the supporters.

On offer were tree and table decorations, cushions, gifts, Christmas decorations and cards, and a wonderful selection of cakes (including Christmas cakes baked by Jackie).

The bottle tombola is always very popular and this year there was even a doggy tombola which went down very well.

Thanks were expressed to Jane Bendall who had made a beautifully decorated large Christmas cake for the guess the weight competition.

Longest standing committee member, Mary Baillie, did a fantastic job in providing a grand raffle.

The committee always get into the spirit of the day by dressing up in Christmas attire and decorating the clubhouse and tables with decorations, tinsel and lights, and with the Christmas music playing in the background, everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the morning.

Cancer Research UK local area fundraising manager, Sophie Barber, was able to come along to this event, bringing with her the senior local fundraising manager for the South West, Nikki Collins.

Spokesperson Maggie Day said: “We cannot thank The Rock Sailing and Water Ski Club enough for allowing us the use of the clubhouse, not only for this event but for all our committee meetings during the year. Thank you to our local supporters, and all of you who came from further afield. We are very proud to announce that over £2,200 was raised on the day for Cancer Research UK which is much needed for their vital work. We wish you all a good Christmas and a good new year in 2020.”
