One Post reader got in touch this week to share a story of some sheep-saving Good Samaritans.

On Sunday, March 28, Jean Hancock was walking with her husband at Crowdy Reservoir, just east of Camelford. On their walk they came across a sheep entangled and unfortunately stuck in a thicket.

Without any tools, Jean’s husband tried to free the helpless sheep and calm it down, but it was just getting deeper into the brambles.

In a bid to free the stranded sheep, the couple walked back to their car in search of help. Luckily they ran into two men and their van. The pair had a saw in the van and willingly headed back with Jean and her husband to the rescue site.

After a short while the sheep was free and headed back to join its flock.

“It was a special moment. We had been to a Palm Sunday Service earlier and I marvelled at the similarity to the Scriptures,” said Jean.

“God provided a sacrifice for Abraham/Isaac in the Old Testament – a ram caught in a thicket – and we were journeying with Jesus through Holy Week and he was the ultimate perfect sacrifice for all.”

She added: “Hope you will agree this is a heart-warming story in these dark days. Hope the boys – and the farmer – see this good news.”
