PUPILS, staff and governors have been celebrating at Holsworthy C of E Primary School after a second visit of the year from Ofsted.
Following a positive Section 8 inspection in February this year, a team of inspectors conducted a more thorough Section 5 inspection in June and the school have now received a glowing report which grades the school ‘good’ in all areas.
The skill, determination and ambition of the leadership, the pupils’ strong and consistent commitment to their learning and the positive culture of continuous improvement were among the achievements recognised in the report.
Headteacher Tim Salvadori said: “When we received the phone call to announce the inspection it came as a bit of a surprise, coming so soon after the previous visit. However, we have good systems in place and I have a wonderful staff which meant I was confident we could demonstrate our strong teaching and learning, despite the inspection coinciding with Sports Day.
“I am proud of the quality of education we provide for our pupils and it was great to be able to demonstrate this to the Ofsted team and for them to formally acknowledge this in their very positive report.”
Her Majesty’s inspector Jeremy Law, who lead the inspection, wrote: ‘The headteacher has led the school through a much-needed period of improvement with skill and determination. As a result, pupils make good progress now.
‘Leaders have the highest ambition for pupils. They have galvanised staff to share their drive for high standards. As a result, staff have high expectations of pupils, who respond by showing a strong and consistent commitment to their learning.
‘Teachers feel empowered by the culture of continuous improvement that leaders have created. They work together to raise the quality of teaching, learning and assessment in the school.’
The full report can be read on the school’s website.
