THE Holsworthy and Stratton Show Dog Show was blessed with dry weather and a slight breeze providing a good, cool temperature for the hot competition in the ring.

The charity for the proceeds of this year’s show was for Pets As Therapy, a service provided by specially trained volunteers and their pets to visit nursing homes, care centres, hospices and centres for people with learning needs to name just a few places on their regular list of venues.

They provide comfort and support to those who can no longer have a pet of their own or find benefit from the atmosphere these visits give.

The judge, Mrs Kate Morgan Lloyd, herself a volunteer and fundraiser travelled from Newport, South Wales to judge.

The classes were exceptionally well attended again this year.

It wasn’t quite 101 Dalmatians, but owners of 15-week-old Georgie the Dalmatian, Gillian and Nigel Wallington, were pleased with their puppy’s success at her first dog show.

Georgie, who seemed to be a little more interested in the things going on around her as the Post spoke to Gillian, came fifth in the Prettiest Bitch category — perhaps igniting a newfound talent.

Gillian and Nigel, who have only recently moved to Pancrasweek, were delighted to bring Georgie and her big brother, Rio, also a Dalmatian, to the show.

To make things even better, Rio happened to win first prize in the non-sporting dog class, but seemed a lot more chilled out than bouncy little Georgie.

Gillian said: “It’s our first time here, but we are really pleased to be supporting our local show!”
