TWO sports events received the green light to use Summerleaze Downs from Bude-Stratton Town Council’s recreation committee at its meeting at the Parkhouse Centre’s conference room last Thursday.

The first event to consider was St Petroc’s Cross Country event in February, and the second was the Bude Junior Triathlon on June 18 next year.

Both will see participants running across the Downs and the Triathlon will also include the cycling element of the race take place across the Downs.

Committee members were all in agreement that both events should be given permission to go ahead with the normal conditions of taking care of the area and correcting any damage caused if necessary.
