Staff at Sir James Smith's School, Camelford, were pleased to see so many of their ex-Yr11 coming back into school last Thursday to pick up their GCSE results. The theme of this year results has to be 'girl power' as the girls did so well.

Whoops of delight, screams and tears were the order of the day — from both girls and boys — as students frantically scanned their results slips counting up their grades.

There were some outstanding results with 17 students gaining three or more A*/A grades. Here the girls out-performed the boys by occupying the top 7 places before the boys get a look-in. With at least 5 A*/A grades each, Emma Stephens, Kayleigh Norman, Millie Parsons, Laura Quinn. Tamsyn Keen, Abi Dunn and Katy Dawe achieved a massive 54 A*/A grades between them.

Laura and Kayleigh also took A Level Art one year early and gained an A grade and B grade respectively. This is a fantastic achievement from a group of incredibly talented young women. There should be lots of proud parents in North Cornwall.
