BOSCASTLE and Crackington Gig Club has been training hard on the water and in the gym, and some amazing results at the World Pilot Gig Championships 2015 are testament to this.

The Men's A achieved an overall position of 44th and the Ladies A 57th and there were some very respectable performances put in by the Bs, Cs, Vets and Super Vets.

The championships, held on The Isles of Scilly, are the biggest event in the gig rowing calendar. This year almost 150 gigs took part, some from as far afield as the USA.

A spokesperson for the club said: "The conditions at this year's championships were pretty challenging with some big seas to contend with and finished with a controversial decision in the Ladies final, the St Mary's Team being disqualified and Newquay crowned world champions."

This year marks a very special anniversary for Boscastle and Crackington Gig Club. The club was formed 10 years ago, after the flood, which devastated both Boscastle and Crackington in August 2004, and its first gig was named, suitably, Torrent.
