CHILDREN in Launceston got creative during half term as they made their very own puppets at Red Cow Craft Workshops.

Led by Jeanette Neale, owner of Red Cow, children crafted the puppets, which were inspired by the Little Red Riding Hood tale, and made some felt fabric baskets during a special half term ‘Craft a Story Day’.

Using a range of different fabric paints, pens, buttons, sequins and felt, the children made the wolf, granny and Red Riding Hood herself. Granny had a removable hat and shawl which was donned by the wolf as he pretended to be a sweet grandma. Luckily, however, Miss Hood spotted the teeth and got her dagger out and chased the wolf away!

The children enjoyed making the puppets and even retold the story before lunch, which was followed by making a small fabric basket all ready for more adventures into story-land.

This half term workshop saw the coming together of craft and stories — two things that teacher and owner of Red Cow, Jeanette, is passionate about.

As well as crafty birthday parties, there will be more open children’s workshops in the school holidays throughout the year.
