General chit-chat between Samantha Down, manager of Holsworthy Social Club, and Colin Wood, one of the regulars, led to a successful fundraiser for charity. Whilst at the social club, Samantha asked Colin why he never played bingo at the club on Wednesday nights and Colin said that he never played bingo and the only way he would play, was if a minimum of £100 was raised for a charity of his choice. At this point the challenge was set and within 48 hours, the £100 was raised. Colin played bingo on Wednesday, October 14, and he said to Dave Ellis (another club member) "wear your dinner suit on the evening and I will donate £10 to charity." As you can see in the picture Dave Ellis wore his dinner suit and Colin played bingo. Thanks have been expressed to all who supported the cause and a total of £405 was raised for the Children's Hospice South West.
