Students at Launceston College achieved the best set of GCSE results in its history this year with 72 per cent of the students in Year 11 achieving at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or better, up 7 per cent on the previous year.

Students were celebrating at the college last Thursday morning as they received the results and a record number of students will now be returning to the college Sixth Form.

College Principal, Jack Jackson, commented: "These results are testimony to the hard work and talents of the students and the fantastic dedication of the teaching and support staff at the college. The Ofsted report in May told us that we were doing well by our students and the results validate that further."

Head of Year Lynsey Slater said: "I am delighted with the results, they have been a very special year group and they have worked very hard to achieve all that they have."

There were many great individual stories including; Chris Coles, Nicholas Werren, Alex Hirons and Laura Dymond who achieved 45 As or A*s between them.

The college re-opens to students today (Thursday.)
