PENHEALE Manor near Egloskerry held an open gardens event in aid of the Charles Causley Trust on Sunday.

Visitors enjoyed wandering in the gardens and cream tea refreshments, followed by a raffle at Penheale Manor, courtesy of owners James and Fiona Colville.

Charles Causley trustee treasurer Les Baker said the amount raised will be in excess of £3,000.

He added: "It was a most enjoyable day. The weather was ideal and the hospitality provided by James and Fiona Colville was fantastic.

"The gardens were outstanding. Several people asked when will the gardens be open again."

l The former home of poet Charles Causley will be opened up to staying guests this summer.

A week-long stay at Cyprus Well will cost £350, and all funds will go to the Charles Causley Trust, which manages the property.
