CHILDREN’S Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted to announce the success of the Kelly House and hamlet garden trail, which raised almost £600 for the local charity.
As part of CHSW’s season of open gardens, four gardens in the hamlet of Kelly, Lifton opened their gates to the public over a weekend in April and raised £593.12 for CHSW.
The four gardens covered 10 acres and included the historic landscaped gardens at the Old Rectory and Kelly House featuring large rhododendrons and azaleas, to a modern walled garden with sculptures by Malcolm Curley.
The public could see all four gardens for just £4 and over the weekend there was also a silent auction running for the sale of a monospiral sculpture kindly donated to CHSW by Malcolm Curley.
Kelly House tea rooms served cream teas and hosted a plant sale and a CHSW stand where information about the charity and its three children’s hospices across the region was available.
Zoe Partridge, community fundraiser for CHSW, said: “We are so grateful to the garden owners for opening their gardens to help us raise funds and having four in one place made for a really lovely afternoon for visitors. Thank you to everyone who came along and was so generous with their donations. Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell costs around £3-million a year to run so donations from events such as this are so important to us.”
