THE future of both Camelford Leisure Centre and Bude Sea Pool look secure for the time being, after Cornwall Council's Cabinet made the decision to retain them under their leisure services.

They will be transferred into a charitable trust, set up to run leisure facilities across the county, which Cllr Joan Symons said would help ensure the services could be retained broadly, and at the current levels.

"The review clearly showed that finding the level of budget savings required in the house option could potentially result in the closure of several leisure facilities and a significant reduction in the community leisure programme," she commented. "By transferring the service to a charitable trust, we can avoid any closures and maintain these highly valued services."
