PLANS for the Big Wind Farm at Week St Mary are unlikely to be considered by Cornwall Council until October, as developers submit additional information for consideration. The £30-million scheme for eleven 125m-high turbines span across five parishes, including Week St Mary. Almost 1,000 comments of both support and objection have been submitted to Cornwall Council. Residents objecting to the scheme claim it will cause noise problems, visual impacts, lower house values and affect tourism. Campaign group CARE, Communities Against Rural Exploitation, say it is not against renewable energy, but members feel the development is inappropriate for the community. The turbines, almost as high as the London Eye, will be 137m (450ft) above sea level and tower above Warbstow Bury — one of the largest and 'best preserved' multivallate hillforts of the Cornish Iron Age, according English Heritage. The application, which was initially due to be considered by Cornwall Council's strategic planning committee last Thursday, will now be considered in October at the earliest — almost two years after the plans came to light.
