RECENT storm damage to the medieval glass window at Laneast parish church will cost a great deal to restore. As part of the fund raising work undertaken by the parishioners, a special performance of "Return to Lyonesse", a legend of Cornwall with origins in the 5th Century, was performed in the church on Friday, August 1. The Storyteller, Mike O'Connor, of St Ervan, is a nationally recognised storyteller with a deep knowledge of Celtic legends and folktales. Woven into the performance was music specifically composed by Barbara Griggs, of Badgall, and performed by her on the harp. 'Return to Lyonesse' has been performed all over the UK since its premiere at the Du Maurier Festival last year and it has won the British Award for Storytelling Excellence. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
