SUPPORTERS of Camelford Leisure Centre held a coffee morning and book sale on December 14, writes Helen Pusey.

The idea came as a more social way of raising money for the centre after an aqua fit class one afternoon, which is always well attended.

Sheila Checkers, leisure centre member, said: “It has gone really well with Aly Chatterjea organising the whole event as well as running her two classes.”

There was a steady flow of people who dropped in for a coffee and a piece of delicious cake.

A book sale also took place and raised £39 alone, as well as tombola. Raffle tickets were also on sale, which was an opportunity to win a framed photograph of Trebarwith Strand.

Many members had just come out of the swimming pool following their class and ready for a coffee at last.

Jenny Adamson, leisure centre member, said: “It’s not bad at all for Wednesday lunchtime in winter in Camelford.”

With the book sale proving popular it was decided there would be a permanent bookcase in the social area, where everyone can purchase books.

All the amounts were counted from the morning and a total of £247.80 was raised for the leisure centre.
