THE Rotary Community Shop committee recently awarded £400 to the 1st Launceston Scout Group.

The grant will be used to purchase a projector and waterproof, fast-action head mounted video camera.

Group leader, Morag Dyer, said: “These pieces of equipment will enable members to record and view action images of scouting activities, particularly the adventurous ones and we are looking forward to using it during the forthcoming National Jamboree in Bodmin.”

Mrs Dyer said the projector will enable the showing of presentations to support training in subjects such as emergency response, mechanics and cookery.

Rotary Shop manager, Dennis Howson, said: ”We are particularly pleased to support Launceston Scout Group which so obviously provides opportunities for local children to learn life skills, develop teamwork and take responsibility. Their regular activities demonstrate commitment to promoting citizenship. I was impressed by the Scouts’ determination to raise their own funds for general purposes and many other activities.”
