FUNDRAISERS across the area have been donating to the Phillippines Appeal following Typhoon Haiyan.

Holsworthy Rotary Club did a collection in the Square on Wednesday, November 13 and raised more than £1,200 in a couple hours.

Rotarian Martin Prentice said: "With the £1,200 two Shelterboxes will be on their way to the Phillippines and we may even get to three.

"This is absolutely incredible and must be a record for a charity collection. When we collected for the tsunami in 2004 we raised £1,000.

"The generosity of the people of Holsworthy never ceases to amaze me and the Rotary Club would like to thank all those who gave so generously."
