The Cornwall Community Foundation has come up trumps for the Seriously Aweful Sinfonia (SAS)with a grant of money which means the group can carry on playing and promoting music in Cornwall.

Since its formation in 2007, the SAS has provided chances for would-be musicians in Cornwall to hone their musical talents.

Jan Man, the group’s ever-patient conductor, brings out the best in all the players.

Now the SAS is proposing to take the show on the road with the introduction of ‘Roving Rehearsals’.

The idea is to take music to the nooks and crannies of Cornwall by holding open rehearsals where the local community will be encouraged to come along to listen to ‘an orchestra’ in action and/or have a chance to dust off an old instrument and play along.

If anyone knows of a venue where a Roving Rehearsal could take place, phone Liz on 01208 880457 or email her at richardrowe368@btinternet.com or email Kath on kath3kidz@yahoo.com and they will do their utmost to organise it.

Weekly rehearsals at the Clease Hall, Camelford, will continue as usual on Mondays from 7pm to 9pm, and audience and new players of any standard are always welcome.
