A long-requested skate park is on the cards for Launceston as funding has been received in the latest round of the Community Infrastructure Levy Fund.

The town council has also pledged funding to be put towards the project.

A council spokesperson said: “Launceston Town Council is delighted to announce that it has been successful in its recent Community Infrastructure Levy Fund application and have been awarded £100,000 towards providing a skate park for the town.

“The town council is putting £50,000 towards the scheme and is working in partnership with the Coronation Park Trust, who have also agreed funding of £50,000, providing a total of £200,000 available for the project, which will be installed at Coronation Park.

“Due to the sums of money involved, the town council will have to follow a tender process for the works, but once this is completed and a designer and installer have been appointed, we will be seeking the views of residents, as to what they would like to see as part of the skate park.”
