ONCE again the Holsworthy Lions’ annual ‘Fun Day’ held on Sunday, November 18, was a roaring success.
Fine weather greeted around 350 guests and helpers from all over the region to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment. Theme for the day was Disney characters and the guests were welcomed by the likes of ‘Goofy’, ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’ and ‘Mrs Incredible’ to name but a few.
Outside in the fine weather, Rowlands Fun Fair dodgems and waltzer rides were available together with cricket and football games, pony and donkey cart trips, hook-a-duck, music by Tarka Radio and the ever-popular Holsworthy Fire Brigade engine to inspect.
Inside guests enjoyed a magician, live disco, face painting and a new attraction, the chance to hold some live snakes.
There was an abundant supply of burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, candy floss, sweets and soft drinks.
Mayor Jon Hutchings was in attendance as was the Portreeve Robert Painter and Portravene Sue Painter and the town crier Roger Dunstan.
The newly crowned Carnival Queen Evony-Rose Bright and the Carnival Princess Paige Chidley also paid a visit.
Lions were assisted on the day by lots of local individuals, organisations and many visiting Lions club members. Thanks were expressed to them all.
