A FUN afternoon at St Teath has raised more than £1,000 for charity.
Alan and Yvonne Tew opened their gardens for a cream tea event, fun and games on Sunday to raise money for the Merlin MS Centre.
The cream tea event was organised by fundraiser, Lorraine Jasper and her band of helpers, which raised more than £1,000. Visitors were treated to jam and cream scones or raspberry gateaux served in the garden with views of Rough Tor and Michealstow Beacon.
A miniature railway around the field was busy all afternoon with passengers of all ages. Steam and electric engines were driven by members of the St Teath Miniature Railway Group.
There were varied stalls and competitions including, tombola, cake and produce stall and Merlin Christmas cards.
A prize draw for a double sized ‘bug’ quilt, made by Babs, Rita and Joan from Delabole, was won by Sue Wilcox. The competition to name the Teddy Bear was won by Mrs Dingle.
Merlin fundraisers David and Lorraine Jasper said: “Just as the afternoon came to an end the gentle Cornish Mizzle drifted in on cue, as if to say well done everyone, thank you for supporting a truly worthwhile Cornish charity.
“Grateful thanks go to Mr and Mrs Tew for their continued support of The Merlin MS Centre, Trewithen Dairies, the Co-op at Port Isaac, Rodda’s Dairy and Tesco Wadebridge for their donations of produce.”
