THIS year, the League of Friends of Launceston Hospital and Community is celebrating 50 years, a huge milestone for a small local charity.
As part of these celebrations the League of Friends are holding a ‘50th Anniversary Raffle’. Winners will be announced at the 50th anniversary celebrations on September 19 at around 4.30pm which is an invitation only event due to number restrictions.
If this event is unable to be held due to COVID-19 then winners will be contacted after the raffle which will be drawn independently on the same day.
Pam Parnell, from the League of Friends, said: “We have a magnificent first prize ‘Our Launceston Hamper’ which has kindly been donated by many local businesses within the town and is valued at £300; second prize is an Alder Vineyards Voucher worth £65, plus many other fantastic prizes. We would like to thank each and everyone for donating and supporting us.”
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from: Emily at Once in a Blue Balloon in the Market House Arcade, Queen of Bombs also in the Market House Arcade, Cath at Robertson’s Jewellers on Church Street, the Rotary Shop on Southgate Street, Homeleigh Garden Centre or from any committee member. Tickets are £1 each or £5 for a book.
Businesses who have donated to the hamper include: Once in a Blue Balloon, Queen of Bombs, Cameo Beauty, Banburys Beauty Spa, The Cost Little Wool Shop, The Byre, David Parish Menswear, Freckles Pet Goodies, Katie & Flora, Jolly Little Gifts, Flowers By Donna, Short Circuit, Threads, Westgate Street Deli, Josephine’s Garden, Cornish Flapjack Shack, The Coffee Pot, Sazzyloo, Nomads Boutiwue, Zebediah’s Art and Craft Collective, Helen Thompson Therapies and David Viggers.

The main aims and objectives of the charity are to raise money to support the purchase of additional and the most up to date equipment for the medical centre, hospital, community nurses and midwives.
The League also provides extras for the patients in hospital like daily newspapers, the phone line to contact family and friends and gifts at Christmas and Easter time.
