HATHERLEIGH Care Village held a French party last week to celebrate their new purpose built nursing home.

The care village is on the outskirts of the town and the home is graced with the latest in care technology and an award winning care team who provide specialist EMI care in a homely environment.

Staff and residents got stuck in preparing French flags and bunting while the catering team proved their culinary skills, providing a French menu of croissants, beef bourguignon and home made French onion soup served with French baguettes.

French music from Charles Trent to Celine Dion was played throughout the afternoon while residents and staff enjoyed a wine and cheese buffet and French quiz.

The day was brought to a close with high tea consisting of a variety of French cakes and pastries and the grand finale was a freshly prepared French Flag cake, decorated by the proud residents of Hatherleigh.

Home Manager Graham Williams said: "We hold a number of events throughout the year at Hatherleigh, these always prove to be successful and are absolutely key to the well being of our residents.

"Today was no exception, residents and staff started first thing this morning with a 'Bonjour' to everyone they met, this really did cause a buzz across the entire home!"
