NEWS that, starting on Saturday, March 19, Torridge District Council is offering free parking in Holsworthy's Manor Car Park on Saturday afternoons and all day Sundays has received a cool reception from shoppers and shopkeepers in the town.

Currently many shops are closed on Saturday afternoons and the majority are closed on Sundays so the streets are for the most part deserted. One shopkeeper said the concession was 'pointless' and another that you could 'shoot a cannon through the square at weekends'.
