ALTHOUGH the library at Holsworthy has recently been taken over by Libraries Unlimited there will be no change to some of the free events offered to the public.

The running of Holsworthy Library, along with all of Devon County Council’s libraries, was taken over by the mutual organisation Libraries Unlimited on Friday, April 1.

The move was made to hopefully secure the future of all fifty of the counties libraries and save the authority a further £1.5-million on top of the £3-million it has already saved from its library service budget over the past three years.

Although under the new leadership of Libraries Unlimited, the library at Holsworthy will still be hosting many of its pre-existing groups and events.

They will continue to host: the ‘Knit and Natter’ group, which meets on the first Thursday of every month from 2pm; the ‘Creative Writing’ sessions with Earthcore Press, which is held on the second Tuesday of every month from 10am to 12noon; the ‘Walking Book Group’, which meets every other month.

They will also still be hosting the ‘Library Lions Book Group’, a fun and friendly book group for children aged seven to ten, who meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 4pm to 4.45pm during term time.

Places for this group are limited however, so it is suggested that parents contact the library staff in advance to book.

There are also craft sessions run for children during the school holidays.
