When the reduced bus travel was first mentioned I wrote to the minister in that it was going to have problems.
I suggested that anyone who wished to have the reduced travel would pay £5 and this would then allow passengers to travel half-fare in their own county, such as Devon, I assumed as this was marked on the bus pass and not countrywide.
If you wished to travel in another county you would pay full fare.
A couple of men travelled from Stourport-on-Severn to the Plymouth Navy days which took three days – all for free travel. to me this is taking the mickey.
I can understand why some routes are being removed. The only answer is make a charge and keep the service. Some people say why should I pay, well, nothing is free today.
