THE dog show at Launceston Agricultural Show on July 28 attracted many visitors and local dog enthusiasts, bringing their excitable furry companions along with them.

The Show’s fourth dog show saw all proceeds from the entries, a total of £201, go to the Margaret Green Animal Rescue charity, with Carol Valvona from Bona Fido and Alan Ging, manager of Margaret Green Animal Rescue, judging the entries.

Alan, who has judged the dog show each year since being at Launceston Show, said: “It wasn’t difficult to decide on the winners; it was an easy show to judge and they were all lovely dogs.

“It went very well, very smoothly, everyone was really friendly and the dogs were very well behaved.”

Thirteen-month-old Frank, the little canine companion of Matt Gardener from Launceston, won Best Youngster at the dog show on July 28, and this is the first of many shows to come, his owner hopes.

Matt said: “I was quite surprised that he won, I didn’t expect him to win. We’ve just started showing him, and will show him properly eventually, but he’s still quite young.

“Today we were just trying to get him used to the show scene, and he was very well behaved for a change.”
