A GRAND procession last weekend heralded the start of celebrations for Week St Mary annual Churches Together Revel. The procession started at the Orchard Inn and was led by the citizen of the year, Brenda Crocker-White, a former carnival queen in the 50s, chauffeured by Fran Rowe. Brenda was chosen as an acknowledgment for her contribution and dedication to the village. The harvest queen, Alisha Johns, and her entourage, consisting of two attendants, Lowen Sachs and Chloe Martin, and crown bearer Jago Congdon, were driven in style by her grandmother, Peggy Johns, in a carriage drawn by two grey shirehorses. They were followed by the previous queen's group and children's fancy dress entrants and the revel banners, which proceeded to the church. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
