Former Bude PCSO Jo Wilson has recently won the Cornwall Police Community Support Officer of the Year award. She will now go forward for consideration for Devon and Cornwall Constabulary's PCSO of the Year award and if successful will be the constabulary's nomination for the national award. During her time at Bude, Jo was instrumental in helping to set up the residents' associations on the Broadclose and Hillhead estates and developing the Junior Park Ranger scheme which is rolling out throughout the rest of Cornwall. When nominating Jo, Sgt Lynden Hughes from Bude wrote: "PCSO Wilson is a highly capable officer who I believe has set the standard for the role of a Police Community Support Officer. She is innovative, tenacious and proportionate in the delivery of her service. In her two years service at Bude, PCSO Wilson has become an officer of whom the local community actively seek out to assist with their issues and concerns." This is the second time members of the Bude Neighbourhood team have been recognised for their work. Last year PC Gary Watts won the Cornwall Neighbourhood Beat Manager of the Year award. Jo has now moved to an investigator's role at Bodmin. She regularly contacts officers and other agency partners in Bude to catch up and to assist, utilising the experience she has built up in the area over the last two years.
