THE Forget-Me-Not Friends group, run by the Supporting Rural Independent Living Project (SRIL), held a memory café session on February 26, in the Manor Suite of Holsworthy’s Memorial Hall.

Explaining what went on at the meeting, group co-ordinator Tricia Burke said: “At the Forget-Me-Not Friends group on Monday, we had a presentation about the work that they do at Wiltshire Farm Foods, (delivering meals in Devon and Somerset) with tastings of meals and cakes.

“The group enjoyed the presentation, and tasting of meals which were really nice. After we had afternoon tea with cakes made by our volunteers, and a singalong to music with Terri Graham.

“Also at the event was Devon Carers, Alzheimer’s UK, Devon Partnership NHS Trust, who can give support and guidance.”

The Forget-Me-Not Friends hold a memory café session in the Manor Suite of the Memorial Hall in Holsworthy between 2pm and 4pm every second and fourth Monday of the month.

They offer tea, cakes and a friendly atmosphere for those wishing to socialise for an hour or two.

Everyone is welcome, especially people affected by memory loss.

For those with memory problems the café provides stimulating, interactive and engaging activities including games, reminiscence, music sessions, quiz, information talks, relaxation sessions and opportunities to chat.

For those who care for someone with memory problems the memory cafe is often the best source of support as it provides the opportunity to chat with others in a similar position and share experiences that might be useful to others.
