SOUTH Petherwin Pre-school has received a generous donation of new footballs, following an incident where the previous sporting goods were damaged.
Sharon Pooley, at Selections in Launceston, decided to donate a collection of new footballs to the preschool after seeing the school’s post on Facebook, which informed people of what had happened.
During the recent half term holidays, it is thought that people broke into the preschool and damaged the footballs.
Manager, Rachel Jeffery, said: “It’s a shame, because we’re a local village with lovely people, and it’s just unfortunate that a minority felt the need to damage things that don’t belong to them.”
However, the arrival of the new footballs have planted a new seed of excitement into the pre-school, with both the staff and children being ecstatic about their new equipment.
Rachel said: “The children are very excited about it, and the lovely weather has allowed them to play with the new footballs in the field.”
Following the incident during the half term, South Petherwin Pre-school have put padlocks around the school, making the gardens and play areas more secure during out-of-school hours.
Rachel added: “At least now nothing else will get damaged, and the pre-school will be more secure.”
