BUDE Foodbank manager Sue Jarvis was this year’s recipient of the Eric Chadd Award at Bude Rotary Club at their Christmas meeting at The Falcon Hotel recently.
The award is given annually to an individual who has worked in the local community for some time.
Sue is the volunteer manager at Bude Foodbank, helping some of the most vulnerable people in Bude.
She manages a team of volunteers who work five days a week helping to feed over 100 families per month. Her clients range from those suffering with mental and physical health problems, lack of income and the homeless.
Because of the changes in the benefits system, which has put some young families in Bude below the poverty line, the demands on the food bank have risen.
Sue’s caring and generous nature makes those that use the food bank less vulnerable and more hopeful.
