IT is estimated more than 1,100 people ‘got their skates on’ to take part in the ‘food and rink’ event in Launceston over the weekend.

Public Notices: Roadworks scheduled for January confirmed by councilThe event was organised by the chamber of commerce, and saw the skating rink situated in the town square, next to the Christmas tree. Refreshments were on hand from No 8 Café and Deli and Firebrand Bar and Restaurant.
Acting chair of the chamber of commerce Sue Isslieb said: “It was absolutely brilliant. We reckon we have had over 1,100 people on that rink. You could hear the laughter and see the smiles on the kids’ faces. We were very pleased.”
