A CHEQUE for £2,700 was presented by Flowerpatch Quilters’ chairman Liz Beare and other members at their annual meeting to representatives of the Samaritans.

The money was raised by making and raffling a patchwork quilt at the annual exhibition this August.

For the last 32 years this thriving group of quilters has raised more than £40,000 for various charities. They meet regularly on the second Thursday of the month at the Central Methodist Hall.

The two representatives from the Cornish branch of the Samaritans thanked the group for their generous donation and gave a brief, informative talk about the charity’s history.
