THE bi-annual ‘Flower Festival’ in St Morwenna and St John the Baptist Church, Morwenstow, was held over the recent bank holiday weekend.

The theme this year was ‘Hobbies in Bloom’ and all proceeds were for church funds.

Members of the community provided 24 vibrant displays, all of which portrayed a hobby, including; beachcombing, knitting, walking, bellringing, gardening, cycling, railways, local history, chess, art, hockey, needlecraft, patchwork, music, toyland, card craft, hobby farming, Scottish dancing, dolls house, banding, book and skittles.

The pew ends were decorated by various church members and a rota of friends of the church acted as door stewards over the weekend.

The Sunday morning service was held at 9.30am.

Thanks were expressed to all those who contributed to the event in any way, particularly churchwarden Margaret Inch for once again co-ordinating the flower festival and to all the gifted flower arrangers for providing such stunning displays.

Donations amounting to over £622 were raised for parish church funds.
