ATTENDANTS of Camelford Floral Society's April meeting were met by a sandwich — two long, flat pieces of driftwood with the filling of Oasis.
Their appetites were whetted — the demonstrator for the meeting was Heather Werkmeister and her evening was titled 'My Floral Passion'.
This first arrangement was horizontal. Between the driftwood went skeleton agave leaves and pieces of Euchalyptus, then beautiful mauve Campanula, white Lysianthus, purple Liatris and purple Limonium. These all flowed horizontally. The arrangement was finished with a fulsome pinkish Orchid across the centre. Heather called it 'Seascape'.
A black hat box with a decoration of blowsy pink flowers was the container for an abundance of pink Camellias and spotted laurel, loops of Apidistra and dark leaved Pittisporium.
Into this went a dozen dark pink Roses, bright Gerberas and dark pink Tulips. The final touch was three black dyed, plaited palm leaves. Luscious! Then Heather produced a complimentary hat on a golden stand.
