A GROUP of volunteers at Tintagel Old Post Office are celebrating five years of volunteering with the National Trust.
In 2010 Natalie Savage, then custodian of the Old Post Office, made contact with Deborah Hastings to discuss the possibility of creating a recycled fabric children's activity. That inauspicious beginning has led to a blossoming five-year relationship between members of the Lifton Hookers and the National Trust.
A special tea was held last month, alongside a rag rug workshop, to thank the five volunteers for their commitment and time. Each volunteer also received a five-year National Trust pin badge.
Joanne McGillivray, Tintagel Old Post Office manager for the National Trust, said: "The art of rag rugging has become a very important part of life at the Old Post Office. Whilst once the rugs would have been made for warmth and comfort, now they are a focus for exhibitions."
