THE premier of the Fisherman’s Tail, a musical, took place at the Bridge Community Centre, Launceston, on Friday, March 31.

Performed and written by the travelling theatre company, 4Front Theatre, based in Malvern, an audience of all ages enjoyed the retelling of the lives of a few ordinary fishermen on the edge of the Galilean Sea over 2,000 years ago, whose occupation would be changed forever when they met a man called Jesus.

After the show, the response from the audience was very positive. One member said: “They did really well considering it was their first show; the children were captivated by it. We loved the way all the actors moved around the stage using props and exchanging instruments — so talented.”

Rob Holman, artistic director, said: “We’ve never performed in a soft play area before, but it worked really well. I was a little nervous as this was our first performance in front of an audience, but the audience was great. We had such a warm welcome and would love to come back again.”

The event organisers, the 0-11 Years Old Team, part of the Launceston Methodist Circuit, have extended their thanks to the Bridge Community Centre for hosting the event, and everyone that helped to make the evening a ‘brilliant’ event.
