AN APPLICATION for the first phase of an overall scheme of 300 new homes, primary school and family pub in Launceston will be submitted to Cornwall Council this month.
Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has prepared the application for the first 70 homes on land at Hay Common, Hurdon Road, after exchanging contracts with the landowners of the greenfield site.
Andrew Rinaldi, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey, said: "We are delighted to have agreed the purchase of the Hay Common site, which will provide much-needed new housing for local people as well as a number of community facilities.
"We look forward to presenting our detailed plans to Cornwall Council for the first phase of this exciting new development."
The initial phase of the scheme will feature a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes on land bordered by the A30 to the north, and existing residential properties off Hurdon Way to the west.
